Third full-length from Stuart Howard aka Lapalux. Detailed electronic textures and complex rhythms make up Ruinism, and the enticing, blended sounds are intermittently interrupted with vocals, which add to the cinematics of the LP. "I would record synths and drum hits and re-sample, re-pitch, twist and blend the sound until it was 'ruined' and then salvage it again in an attempt to make something coherent," says Howard, and this is the exact point that makes listening to Ruinism a pleasurable experience; a seeming disarrayed arrangement of sonic bits form a "'brutal landscape," but Lapalux "makes for softness and slivers of beauty," which creates a stunning contrast to the decontonstructed, ominous boundaries of the 12-tracker. Check out "Rotted Artp" featuring Louisahhh, "4EVA," "Flickering," and "Petty Passion."
