Boy Harsher have taken destroying soggy basement shows up and down the Eastern seaboard and turned it into high art, culminating in this sophomore full-length that sees their syrupy darkwave balladry fully crystallized. Almost every slice of Careful starts with the same toolkit - carefully-sculpted arp bassline, no-frills bass and drum riddims, peppered with orch stabs and occasional synth swells - before setting off down its own rabbithole; a familiar sound that’s equal parts Nitzer Ebb, T.G., Depeche Mode and Eurythmics without aping anyone. Highlights include “Lost,” “Fate,” “LA,” “The Look You Gave (Jerry)” and “Face The Fire.” Indie exclusive white vinyl pressing with lyric sheet, recommended.
