nostalgic vibes from this aesthetic outlier S U R F I N G’s Deep Fantasy was originally released on 75 cassettes in 2012. A very modest success at the time, this album has proved a massive influence on the constantly gestating Vaporwave community. Downtempo bleeps and bloops drift between a chill haze and laser focus, drums curdled with digital distortion among woozy funk. This record separates itself from its copyright flaunting brethren with its original vocals and traditional song structure, sounding more in line with Ariel Pink or Washed Out than Macintosh Plus. This vinyl reissue comes courtesy of 100% Electronica, the net label founded by George Clanton, who in classic Vaporwave fashion, claims this will be the last ever vinyl edition of this LP. Pressed on transparent teal vinyl, snag this before you can't afford it.
